Candeleda is a town that belongs to the province of Ávila and it is also the southernest town of the autonomus community of Castilla y León. It has a population of just over 5.000 inhabitants, including those living in El Raso. In the west side it is sorrounded by Extremadura and its region of La Vera, and to the South by Castilla-La Mancha. Its location at the foothills of the Sierra de Gredos and at only 400 m above sea level, makes Candeleda and El Raso a place where a variety of species are plantiful thanks to its climate. We are inside the Parque Regional de la Sierra de Gredos, and also part of our region is Z.E.P.A zone (Zona Especial de Protección de Aves, by its symbols in Spanish). The climate, the difference in altitud between its lowest elevation (290 m) and its highest elevation (2.592 m), as well as its proximity and good communication with Madrid, make Candeleda-Gredos an amazing binomial for the practice of a wide range of sports activities.
In addition to this wide range of activities, the climate allows for many crops that also make its gastronomy so appealing. Certainly we can not forget its cultural richness and its heritage; and this is why Candeleda-Gredos is a reference for tourism in the central area of the Peninsula.
